Let's pray...
For Adam Lanza, that in his last moments he repented and returned to God, our Father. That God, in His infinite mercy, will spare Adam from the fires of Hell and an eternity of separation from the God who created and loves him.
For Adam Lanza' mother, may she rest in peace. May she also have the hope of having her son with her in heaven.
For Ryan Lanza, Adam's brother, that he may forgive his brother and be comforted in his grief and confusion. May he be spared from tormented thoughts and given peace.
For all of Adam's family, that they may not give into the temptation to hate him. May God assuage their anger and grief and help them come to forgiveness.
For the victims of Adam, may perpetual light shine upon them. May they intercede for their families on earth who are suffering in their anguish and heartbreak.
For the families of the victims, that God continues to sustain them and that all of their needs are met. Spare them from psychological harm and help them to turn to you for peace and consolation. Help them to avoid feelings of hatred toward Adam and give them the grace to forgive him, that in so doing they may find greater healing in their own hearts.
For the sole, injured survivor, may she heal quickly, be spared from psychological harm and find peace.
For the students, teachers and staff in the school who were spared and for their families, may they thank God for his kindness and mercy. May they turn to their neighbors who lost family members and offer every support possible. May they also be spared from psychological harm.
For the volunteer fire fighters and all the first-responders, that they may be comforted and heal from their pain. May they not be haunted by the things they saw and may they also find peace.
For Msgr. Weiss and all the other priests, ministers, pastors, counselors and funeral directors, that they have every grace to deal with this tragedy and comfort the families.
For our entire nation and our world, that we come to forgive Adam. May we avoid turning on each other in our anger. Help us to wisely discern how to help prevent these events in the future with all due flexibility, compassion and understanding. May we be willing to make concessions for the sake of saving lives in the future. May we be cautious in our word choices, that our own anger and pain does not cause more for others.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of hour death. Amen.
