The Gospel for today is the story when the mother of James and John asks Jesus to reserve the positions at his right and left for her two sons. For a while now, I've had the theory that the two people who get those honors are the inventors of the Magic Eraser and the Micro-fiber cloth. What mother of toddlers would not agree? Hello!
In all sincerity, I have no idea for whom that honor is reserved. Even Jesus didn't exactly let on about who got it.
Honestly, I'm just surprised in myself that I actually know what the Gospel from today's mass is! C decided to wake up at 5 am... again! What is with this kid? I'd like to pretend that E and I have some sort of knack for getting our kids out the door in a calm and orderly fashion on Sunday morning. Nope! Our strategy for a while now is based on whatever time the kids wake up, we hurry up and get them dressed and fed in time to make it to the next starting mass. Brushed hair for the kids is totally optional. This has been in the vain hopes they'll be more cooperative if they haven't had loads of time to start playing and then forced into a more calm atmosphere. I'd say the results are largely mixed. Well, with C up and screaming at 0-dark-hundred, we were all awake. So we actually made it to a 7 am mass. And then, since C was just full of energy, E got to walk with her in the back, outside, in the cry room, where ever she wanted to go. My poor exhausted husband said on the way home it was like living the "My Buddy" commercials: "Where ever she wanted to go, I went."

Having just P in the pew with me wasn't nearly as hellacious as having both of the kiddos by myself. He still refused to sit and stand at the appropriate times. Then, during the consecration, for the life of me I could not get him to quit meowing. This can't be normal...
All in all, it wasn't so bad. I wonder how much fun this will be when we have 3 in the pew.
